FAQ's (Cont.)

Ok, lets try to explain the facts..
A paintball is a 6g Gelatine ball filled with a coloured vegatable oil. The Gun or Marker as they are sometimes called projects the paintball from anywhere between 250fps to 299fps. 300fps is the maximum speed the ball can travel due to pounds per square foot UK firearm regulations. This means that the paintball leaves the end of your barrel at around 200mph.

So, does it hurt when your hit?
Anything weighing 6g travelling a 200mph when it hits you will sting a little.

Competition Paint
Competition paint is the same size & weight as a normal paintball but has a thinner outer shell, this was originally designed for easier marking of competitors in competitions and to stop cheating/wiping etc. The spin off of this was a ball that will break/dissapate more easier which would leave you with either no bodily mark or a faint red bruise..

Muggings:
Mugging is when you are to busy looking the other way & dont notice the enemy sneaking up on you and shooting you (usually in the butt) this is when it really stings, as you are unaware that there is a player ready to shoot you, your body is more relaxed so this is when it tends to hurt more. But remember this is why you play paintball, to be able to sneak up on your opponant without being noticed is the reason you play the game.

Bunkered:
This is when your oposition overpowers your secure bunker, either with more firepower or more players, most of these eliminations will be on your mask, hopper or marker but sometimes you can get shot on the finger. Although you are wearing gloves you have little resistance to the impact of the paintball (due to no muscle, just skin and bone) this will make you yelp, but the sudden rush of adrenalin soon takes over and revenge over powers any thoughts of pain.

Statistics:
70% of Hits are on Guns/Masks/Hoppers
20% are body hits.
5% are Muggings.
5% are Bunkers.

Conclusion:
So you have a 90% chance that it wont hurt, this is why you hear some players say it does not hurt and some will say it really stings. But ask them if they enjoyed themselves and they will probley spend 10 minutes explaining to you how they crawed up on there friend and shot them in the butt..

I hope I have explaned to you all the reason you play paintball is to have that little 10% of fun/revenge and not forgetting the 100% of memories.
